Changes at the Cornish Pirates – Statement

After almost five years with us it is sadly announced that General Manager Tom Magill has decided to move on to pastures new. Tom has been a huge support for all at the Pirates over his time with us and no doubt will be sorely missed by the Board, sponsors, staff and supporters.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Tom for all his hard work and commitment during his tenure and wish him all the best going forward. Still avid supporters, we look forward to seeing Tom and his family at The Mennaye on match days.

Dicky Evans has commented:

Tom came to the Pirates just after a new board was installed. He was in constant touch for clarity on the way forward during that time and handled all the issues that arose with complete professionalism and certainly discretely. He has undertaken the difficult health and safety issues at the ageing Mennaye through thick and thin with a stoic outlook and without doubt has made a massive contribution to the excellent match day experience everyone knows and loves at the home games.

He was always professional and immaculate in his time keeping and his personal appearance – not an easy thing to do when always surrounded by sweaty players in training gear. I will personally miss Tom and our interaction on the long distant phone calls a lot and wish him all the very best in his future career choice.

The health and safety and ground improvement works undertaken by Tom will now be carried out by a familiar face for many supporters – our Team Manager Chris ‘Jan’ Rendall. Jan will be coming on board full time and stepping up to carry out this role alongside his existing duties as Team Manager. We wish him the very best of luck in this difficult role and he has some big boots to fill.
