At this time of year, it is traditional to send Christmas cards to friends and family. Some of our friends send a note letting us know what has happened during the year. So, on behalf of the Board and all at Cornish Pirates here is our Christmas card to all of you – our sponsors, our supporters and all who volunteer to make this club what it is and make it feel like a big family.
Thank you to our sponsors, not only our main sponsors, to whom we are indebted, but to all who sponsor the club in different ways including player sponsorship and match day and match ball sponsorships. Quite simply we would really struggle without you.
Thank you to our season ticket holders and our supporters. You provide us with financial support and you really help provide the brilliant atmosphere when the Cornish Pirates play at The Mennaye and also when we are on the road. I know that the players really appreciate your passionate support helping to give us that extra man.
Thank you to all who volunteer at each match. We couldn’t provide the level of match day experience without your continuous help.
If I have missed anyone out then please forgive me.
As for the past year, while we haven’t quite got the Stadium over the line, we have made very significant progress. I personally will never forget the effort in getting Cornwall Council to vote funding. The passion that everyone put into that campaign was breathtaking. I am fairly certain that the Council chamber will rarely have experienced the cheering after a vote before.
We have continued to prepare for the start of the build, which we are confident will happen early in the New Year.
On the playing side, we have made progress. What a winning streak we had at the end of last season in finishing fourth, just pipped from finishing third by a last minute Bedford try on the last day. Winning ways continued at the start of the present season and we are very well placed in the league right now and have already made the quarter final of the Cup.
Looking forward, we will work even harder to make the Stadium a reality. We are also planning to build the squad and the training facilities to support the players, coaches and all the support staff, helping to make it a force capable of progression to our aspiration of being a Premiership team when the time is right.
Please look out for how you all can support this and to own a part of Cornish Pirates.
Happy Christmas to you all and here’s looking forward to a peaceful and successful New Year.
It is the third year running that such support will be given and it is greatly appreciated
