The Cornish Pirates have welcomed numerous school and club youth teams to participate in their match day experience over many years.
A latest group to thoroughly enjoy themselves at the Mennaye Field was a large contingent of young rugby players representing Torpoint Tigers, who were guests at the end of January when the Cornish Pirates played Hartpury RFC.
The enthusiastic Tigers formed the Guard of Honour pre-match, played a half-time exhibition of rugby, plus cheered the Pirates on to an entertaining 41-24 league match victory. Also, for two of their number, Olivia and Oliver, they were match day mascots who had the extra special opportunity of leading the Pirates out ahead of kick-off, accompanying player Javier Rojas Alvarez and skipper Brett Beukeboom.
On behalf of Torpoint Tigers, Robbie Ryder commented:
Credit as always to the Cornish Pirates for supporting grassroots rugby. Our youngsters thoroughly their annual Super Sunday visit, with one 7-year-old saying can we do this every week!
