Representing the Penryn under 9s rugby team, brothers Bailey and Aiden Hunt were the match day mascot representatives at the recent Cornish Pirates versus Jersey Reds Championship game played at the Mennaye Field, Penzance.
Speaking on behalf of the Penryn team, coach Nathan Brown has since commented:
All of our players had a fantastic time, including forming the Guard of Honour pre-match and also playing a half-time exhibition of mini-rugby.
The day was really well organized and for mascots Bailey and Aiden it was inevitably extra special. When I asked Bailey what he thought, he just kept shouting ‘Awesome, awesome, awesome’, whilst Aiden is still telling school friends that he got to run out with a big dude!
Poltair School was the venue where the open pitch played its part in the free-flowing rugby displayed.
Making a visit to Penzance & Newlyn RFC’s ‘Westholme’ clubhouse last Friday were three welcome Kiwi guests.
A match day collection held in support of The Chestnut Appeal raised £555-38 when the Cornish Pirates played Ealing Trailfinders at home on the last day of their season.
