A welcome guest at the Mennaye Field recently was 91-year-old Daisy Bray.
The Cornish Pirates were informed a few weeks ago that Daisy loves rugby, used to support Redruth, but nowadays loves listening to BBC Radio Cornwall’s excellent commentary on match days. However, she had also mentioned that she was very keen to see a game live, so the Cornish Pirates were more than happy to oblige.
Accompanying Daisy when the Cornish Pirates played Bedford Blues in the Championship Cup was her trusted taxi driver Kevin from Camborne, who commented:
I would just like to say a massive thank-you for inviting Daisy – it was a wonderful day and she just loved it!
If, however, there was just a tinge of disappointment for Daisy, it was that her favourite player, Sam Matavesi, was not playing, as he is presently away on international duty with Fiji. Never mind, however, as on Sam’s return the Cornish Pirates would of course happily welcome her again!
