New Physio Gareth O'Neill + S&C Coach Greg Sammons

Our support staff have been bolstered for the new season with the arrival of Physio Gareth O’Neill and Lead Strength & Conditioning Coach Greg Sammons.

Physiotherapist Gareth O’Neill - who will be working alongside Head Physio Paul Cremin - is dual skilled being a Strength & Conditioning Coach-turned-Physio,

Since graduating from Northumbria University, the 31-year-old has worked in various sports science support/multi-sport strength & conditioning roles in four different countries before returning to Belfast to study Physiotherapy at the University of Ulster.

A sports lover, Gareth has been involved in elite Gaelic football with Tyrone GAA, elite swimmers from Swim Ulster/Swim Ireland, British Motorsport athletes, Canadian and Australian provincial rugby, plus youth International football.

In Northern Ireland he has also served as Physiotherapist for the University of Ulster Jordanstown’s Sports Academy and as Lead Strength & Conditioning coach for The Performance Lab.

“Having interviewed very well, it was clear that Gareth was keen to join us. There are not too many people who have the dual skill sets of both Physiotherapy and Strength & Conditioning, but Gareth has” said Coach Gavin Cattle.

Strength & Conditioning Coach Greg Sammons,

Strength & Conditioning Coach Greg Sammons, aged 29, has previously played hooker for Leicester Tigers, Bedford Blues, Nottingham, and Mogliano.

Forced to retire due to a neck injury, he gained a Sports Science Degree at Loughborough University, whilst at the same time working for three seasons back at Leicester Tigers as a Strength & Conditioning Coach.

He joined Birmingham Moseley in 2014 as Head Strength & Conditioning Coach and started a PhD in Sports Science, more recently he worked with England under 20s during the Six Nations.

Speaking about Greg, Gavin said: “He was an outstanding candidate and has a really good rugby background. He is also a great personality who had other options, so we are really chuffed that he chose to join us.”
