Rugby Programme's Festival Finale

Nine Schools from the Camborne, Pool and Redruth area have taken part in an exciting new rugby programme run by the Cornish Pirates that culminated with a festival held at Redruth School last Friday.

The programme delivered high quality training to pupils from St. Meriadoc C. of E. Junior Academy, Roskear Primary, St. John the Baptist Primary, Weeth Community Primary, Pennoweth Primary, Treleigh Community Primary, St. Day and Carharrack Community School, Illogan School, and Portreath Community Primary School.

The festival made for a great atmosphere and was contested in a wonderful sporting spirit, with a fine standard of rugby, it was both highly successful and enjoyable,

Special mention is  due to the teachers and parents who supported the games in such a positive manner, they were excellent ambassadors for their schools.

Cornish Pirates player Matt Evans commented: “The competitive games made for challenging refereeing for me and Nico (fellow player Nicolas De Battista), however it was great to see so much free and open running rugby.”

Community Manager Sam Teasdale added: “Having the players attend the festival made for a truly remarkable day, which the children, teachers and parents will clearly remember for quite some time.”

The Cornish Pirates would also like to thank Kirsty Treloar and the students of Redruth School who assisted on the day and made the event possible.
