May is here, with the end of season on the horizon and three more big Championship fixtures to complete the campaign! Here's what's coming up in a busy month to conclude 23/24.
News this week has confirmed the passing in Australia of John Patrick ‘Tess’ O’Shea, aged 83.
The Cornish Pirates can confirm that lock Steele Barker, aged 23, will be joining Premiership outfit Bristol Bears for the start of next season.
This SUNDAY will see the Cornish Pirates welcome Cambridge to the Mennaye Field for a scheduled Round 19 fixture in this season’s RFU Championship (ko 2.30pm).
At our next home game versus Cambridge (Sunday 21st April ko 2.30pm), supporters will firstly have the opportunity to cast their votes (on paper slips and placed in available buckets) for their chosen player of the season who, immediately after our final home league game against Coventry on the 11th May, will be presented with ‘The Roger Pascoe Cup’.
With hookers Morgan Nelson (knee) and Rhys Williams (failed HIA) having been injured in last Friday’s 26-17 home defeat to Championship league leaders Ealing Trailfinders, the Cornish Pirates have reacted swiftly to bring in on-loan Exeter Chiefs’ hooker Iestyn Harris.
Following recent news confirming that coach Louie Tonkin has accepted a role with Ealing Trailfinders and will be leaving the club at the end of this season, the Cornish Pirates can advise that Joe Walsh has been appointed in his place in readiness for the start of the 2024/25 campaign.
This FRIDAY will see the Cornish Pirates welcome league leaders Ealing Trailfinders to the Mennaye Field for a scheduled Round 17 contest in this season’s RFU Championship (ko 7.30pm).
