This SUNDAY will see the Cornish Pirates welcome Doncaster Knights to the Mennaye Field for a scheduled Round 6 fixture in this season’s RFU Championship (ko 2.30pm). The Knights are presently second in the league table, and the Pirates are fifth.
The 11 Championship clubs came together today to debate their collective future: whether our league will be best served by capitalising on the potential of its commercial rights and its brand-identity to underpin a truly “whole-game solution” to tier two, or by considering a putative “Premiership 2” based on a franchise model.
Following completion of the successful Crowdcube raise, the Chairman and Board of Kernow Sport Ltd are delighted that over 500 new fan owners will be receiving their share certificates in the near future, along with Dicky Evans who today has regained a portion of his original shareholding from a Channel Islands based company.
This Saturday will see the Cornish Pirates welcome Caldy to the Mennaye Field for a scheduled Round 4 fixture in this season’s RFU Championship. The contest kicks off at 2.30pm. Playing their second season in the Championship, Caldy won 29-19 against London Scottish last time out.
With the Cornish Pirates versus Jersey Reds league fixture, which was scheduled to take place on Friday the 23rd February, having been unfortunately cancelled following the demise of the Jersey club, the Pirates are now delighted to announce that they will instead be playing the Royal Navy on that day, still with a 7.30pm kick-off.
The Cornish Pirates were delighted to welcome representatives of The Veterans Charity to the Mennaye Field when the team played London Scottish recently, and despite the rather poor weather the worthy sum of £334-65 was raised.
