The owners of the two biggest professional sports clubs in Cornwall, the Cornish Pirates and Truro City Football Club, have today launched an exciting crowdfunding campaign aimed at raising £2.5m for both clubs.
Nearing the end of a week when certain announcements have been made confirming the names of various players who have signed new one-year contracts with the club, the Cornish Pirates have also now listed 12 squad members who are leaving.
At the end of what has been fairly deemed a successful season, one in which they not only finished fifth in the RFU Championship league but also for a second year running made it to the semi-final stage of the Championship Cup, the Cornish Pirates held what proved an emotional Dinner & Awards Evening at the Penventon Hotel, Redruth, on Sunday evening.
When the Cornish Pirates recently played Jersey Reds at home in the semi-final of this season’s Championship Cup, the atmosphere was considerably boosted by the presence for several individuals who have been associated in the past with the inimitable Falmouth Marine Band.
Hearty congratulations are expressed to Truro City FC for not only beating Bracknell Town 3-2 in Monday’s Southern League Premier South play-off encounter, but in the process also gaining promotion to National League South.
