Salary: £18k-£25k dependent on experience

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Cornish Pirates Rugby Club, for a first team physiotherapist to join our sports medical team for the 2017/18 season. This is an opportunity for the right candidate to work in a professional sporting environment and assist in the medical support of Cornwall's premier rugby team. We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, hard working and dynamic physiotherapist.

The individual appointed will assist the head physiotherapist in injury assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, injury prevention and screening.

They will possess a vision as to how these responsibilities fit within the Cornish Pirates daily structure and demonstrate an ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.

In providing medical support to the Cornish Pirates squad the role will require extensive team travel during the season and as such a strong appreciation for the issues this presents in injury management and recovery is essential.

Essential requirements:

  • BSc in Physiotherapy

  • Member of the CSP or equivalent insurance provider

  • Registration with HCPC

  • Current drivers licence

Highly desirable:

  • Experience working in professional sport

  • ICIS pitch side qualification

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with the Lead Physiotherapist in the assessment, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of all Cornish Pirates Players

  • Prescribe, develop and implement treatment and rehabilitation plans for injured players.

  • Effective communication skills throughout our medical team

  • Provide pitch side cover for training and games as required

  • Assist with daily and weekly musculoskeletal screening of all players as required.

  • Assist with the daily maintenance treatment and delivery of rehabilitation plans.

  • Documentation on all aspects of injury management in accordance to the standards set by the Health Professions Council (HCPC).

  • Assist the medical team with administrative obligations such as injury audits, medical insurance and other matters as required.

  • To keep abreast of current best practices, maintain CPD and take an active role in the departments CPD programme.
