For their second pre-season friendly the Cornish Pirates travel to play Exeter Chiefs on Saturday, to be part of a double-header hosted by the home team.

The Aviva Premiership champions will field two sides, the first to face the Cornish Pirates at 1.30pm, and the second to play Guinness Pro 12 visitors the Dragons at 3.30pm.Tickets on the day covers both games.

The Pirates, who will be skippered by lock Chris Morgan, have named three players dual-registered with Exeter Chiefs, namely  lock Josh Caulfield, back-rower Tom Lawday, and Truro-born wing AJ Cant. Also listed among the replacement is Joe Elderkin, who has trained with the Chiefs and was fly-half for Cornwall in this year’s County Championship final played against Lancashire at Twickenham. A guest player training at present with the Pirates, centre Adam Higgins, is another named on the bench.

Exeter’s selection for the game against the Cornish Pirates includes a number of last season’s Aviva Premiership title winning squad, plus summer signings Matt Kvesic, James Freeman, Toby Salmon and Wilhelm van der Sluys. Scrum-half Stuart Townsend has been named as captain, with several other familiar and familiar to be faces in their ranks.
