Prop Tyler Gendall, a product of the Cornish Pirates Player Development Foundation, has been signed by Harlequins for the rest of this season.
Explaining Tyler's signing, Harlequins’ Director of Rugby John Kingston said:
“With the long term injury to Will Collier, and as Kyle Sinckler will be absent from the squad due to his international commitments, we require extra cover at prop.
“I am really pleased to be able to bring someone with Tyler’s ability into the squad at such short notice and I’m looking forward to seeing his impact in the coming months.”
Speaking highly of 22-year-old Tyler, Cornish Pirates Coach Alan Paver commented:
“For Tyler to have this opportunity to move up to the next level is thoroughly deserved. His development over the last three seasons has been outstanding and this year he has been a real rock in our pack.”
“Everyone associated with the Pirates will wish him well.”
Cornishman Tyler signed for the Cornish Pirates in July 2014, as a member of the Player Development Foundation.
Although he only made 11 appearances in that first season due to injury, his hard work and determination earned him a full contract for the 2016/16 campaign
His call to Harlequins further underlines the value of the Cornish Pirates Player Development Foundation in developing Cornish Talent.
