In a perfect start to the Easter Weekend, five more players have made the commitment to stay with the Cornish Pirates for next season.
The five are: Canadian internationals Brett Beukeboom and Matt Evans, back-rowers Matt Bolwell and John Stevens, and centre Bar Bartlett. Bar has signed for one year, whilst the others have signed for two.
Lock Brett, aged 26, has made 42 appearances during his two seasons with the Pirates, whilst his fellow ‘Canuck’ Matt, who joined the Pirates in 2011 and is now 29 years of age, is just two games short of the 100 games milestone
Forwards Matt and John, both aged 22, have shown their considerable potential as developing back-rowers in recent seasons, playing 51 and 29 games respectively.
As for 23-year-old Bar, who has been a fully committed squad member in his first season with the club, his games tally stands at 12.
“We are delighted to confirm signings the quality of Matt Evans and Brett Beukeboom, as they have been huge contributors in what we have done during the past few seasons. I am also sure that moving forward they will prove even bigger talisman contributors in years to come” said joint coach Alan Paver.
“Looking at John and Matt Bolwell, they are two young guys who have proved their worth and have together matured into fine young men and players. For the future of Cornish rugby they are two gifted players to keep an eye on.
“Finally, joining a squad full-time this season, Bar has been another huge contributor and we are over the moon to sign such a quality player. Well liked, we are again looking forward to seeing his development over the next few seasons.”
