Matt Bolwell Flanker
Matt was one of four gifted young Cornish rugby players who - in May 2013 - were given the opportunity to combine study and training with the Cornish Pirates as they looked to develop their sporting careers.
After making nine appearances in his first season – a figure limited by a serious head injury at Ealing in September - he added a further 20 to his tally in 2014/15.
Before linking with the Cornish Pirates, Matt had already played for Exeter Chiefs Academy and in the A league for Exeter Braves

When Matt moved from Surrey to Cornwall it wasn't long before he started playing for Wadebridge Camels, aged just four.
His coaches were Dave Vickery and Chris Taylor, and he played in the centre up to the under 15s before moving into the back-row.
Representing Cornwall through the age groups, for Matt it was a great honour when he was first selected for England under 17s and then the under 18s side. He also captained Truro College in the RFU's Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence (AASE) League and at the Sanix World Youth Tournament which took place in Japan in 2012.
He has appreciated the support given him by coaches such as Marek Churcher and Tom Rawlings at Truro College, and Rob Gibson at Exeter Chiefs Academy, and his dad Steve has also been a massive help driving him to training and matches all around the country.
