Alan Paver - Prop
Nobody has epitomised everything that is good about the Cornish Pirates better than Alan Paver.
Despite being a northerner, he has completely embraced the life of a Cornishman and his dedicated professionalism year after year must be an inspiration to younger players.
Paves’ has an encyclopaedic knowledge about the theory and practice of scrummaging and, given the chance, will wax on the subject for hours.
Alan was appointed Player/Coach at the start of the 2014/15 season, a campaign when he took his games tally to an amazing 332. Along with Gavin Cattle, he was honoured to play for the Barbarians in the Remembrance Day fixture against the Combined Services at Bath.
He was also England Counties Forwards Coachi n June 2014 for their two match tour in Georgia.
In the 2015/16 season, Alan took his games tally for the Pirates to 352, a remarkable achievement for one club in the professional era.

Paves is now one of the very few players in the Championship in his second decade with one club and he has played more matches for the Pirates than anyone else in the professional era.
Although he has played the majority of his games at loose head he has switched to the tight head recently where his squat frame and superior technique has been a nightmare for the six feet something props who have had the misfortune to come up against him.
Alan played in both the EDF and B&I cup wins plus all the major playoff finals and semis
Always cheerful, polite and approachable he is naturally hugely popular and in his spare time has the unusual hobby - for a prop - of salsa dancing.
He was a winner of The President's Cup in 2004, a trophy presented to the player who, in the opinion of our President, has been the most outstanding contributor on the field,
His other club hours include being both Sportsman of the Year and Travelling Supporters Player of the Year in 2005, whilst in both 2006 and 2007 he received the John Stirling Memorial Cup for Commitment.
In 2009, Alan was a deserved winner of the 'Community Player of the Year' award.
Alan made his 200th appearance for the club in a friendly against Cardiff RFC, the first game of the 2009/10 season. At season's end, one when he moved across the front-row to play a number of matches as a tight-head prop, his total stood at 225.
He has also held a coaching co-ordinator role in the club's Youth Section, and at our annual awards was once again presented with the John Stirling Cup for Commitment.
