Our games with London Welsh are always hard fought tussles, but with the news coming out of the club at the moment, the Pirates will not lack the inspiration or motivation to get the win.

The Pirates - 3rd in the table - are one of only three teams in the league who are yet to taste defeat, but Welsh, who sit four points behind, are doubtless looking to change that.

Welsh have had a mixed start with a win and two losses, but their four bonus points have kept them in touch at the top in the early stages of this season and they’ll be looking to bounce back from a single point defeat to second place Yorkshire Carnegie last week.

With the likes of Joe Carlisle in their ranks, who had an excellent game the last time they visited Cornwall, they will pose a significant threat.

Speaking ahead of the game, Coach Alan Paver told us: “We’re looking forward to this weekends’ contest, not expecting any miracles but wanting to make sure we continue with our brand of rugby, stick to what we do and keep pushing forward as a group.”

Team News

There are five changes in the starting line, No.8 Tom Duncan leads the side again with Jack Andrew slotting in at tight-head prop.

Alex Cheesman and Jake Parker are the flanker pairing, whilst Alex Day returns at scrum-half.

The other change is in the centre, where Tom Hendrickson will partner Nicolas De Battista.

For Laurence May - should he be called off the bench – it will be his 50th appearance for the Pirates.
