Games from now on can be pivotal and Sunday’s clash with London Scottish could see the winner in - or close to - 4th place and in contention for the play offs.

Following last week’s league table adjustment due to the demise of London Welsh, just one point separates Scottish in 5th on 30 and Pirates in 7th on 31, whilst Ealing Trailfinders in 4th place have 32 points.

Speaking about the game coach Gavin Cattle said:
“These games at the business end of the season are pivotal in terms of league standings, whoever wins this game is closer to that top four place but if we win our home games we are in contention.”

“We had a close encounter at their place at the beginning of the season, a cliché but a game of two halves, and one we look back on when we under achieved especially at the set piece, but back on our home ground at the Mennaye we’ll be looking to put those wrongs right.”

“Both teams are in a different place now, we have come on as a team since then and so have they, but we’ll be looking to establish our brand on them and give a better impression of ourselves.”

“Scottish also have an attacking brand but with the forecast weather coming up, the game is likely to be won up front so there’ll be a big focus at set piece time.

“Having last weekend off has done us a world of good and means that we will be fresh and prepared and we’re very keen to put on a good performance at home.”

Gavin ended with a word to the Pirates Faithfull: “The local support is massive, spurring the boys on makes a huge difference in terms of an uplift, so let’s continue with that noise.”
