London Irish v Cornish Pirates

Saturday 18th March 2017
Greene King IPA Championship Rd 19
Madejski Stadium
Kick Off 2pm

It’s Party Time as the Pirates and a large following from Cornwall & afar head to the Madejski to face London Irish and join in their St Patrick’s Day celebrations.

The teams have already faced each other three times this season, with the exiles emerging victorious on each occasion. The Pirates went down 35-24 at home in the league, whilst in the Cup they lost 33-24 away and then narrowly 17-16 at home.

“It will be a huge occasion at the Madejski with the biggest crowd of the season expected for the St. Patrick’s celebrations.” said Coach Gavin Cattle

“For some of the younger players it will be the biggest game they have played in and will create a great opportunity for their development.”

“We will miss flanker Alex Cheesman, who is out for the rest of the season with a hand injury, but we are boosted by the return of captain Chris Morgan who as a leader is someone the boys look to when the pressure is on.”
