A match day collection held at Sunday’s Cornish Pirates versus Doncaster Knights game raised £411-54 for a very worthy cause.
The collection was to help purchase brand new toys for the Clinical Imaging Department at Royal Cornwall Hospital Treliske (RCHT), where their availability helps relax nervous young children who find being scanned a daunting experience.
Speaking on behalf of RCHT Katie Giles (Consultant radiologist) said:
“The amount we collected on the day was awesome and we are thrilled. Thanks are expressed to those who shook the collection buckets, and to the Cornish Pirates and their supporters for the help and generosity once again shown.”
Besides the match day collection, the Cornish Pirates and staff from RCHT have also teamed up to run ‘Captain Benbow’s Toy Appeal’, whereby new toys can be donated by dropping them off at the Cornish Pirates upstairs ticket office in Alexandra Road, Penzance (open Mon-Fri 9am-12noon). A number of new toys have already been given, which has been greatly appreciated.
It is important to note, however, that all toys must be new, with no choking hazards or loose parts.
