Pirates & Redruth Juniors Match Day Experience

Players from the Pirates under 9s and Redruth under 8s had a great time at the Mennaye on Sunday when their Cornish Pirates Match Day Experience coincided with our St Piran's Day Derby with Jersey Reds

Youth participation is an important feature of Pirates Match Day and at Sunday’s game the young players were the centre of attention as they formed the flag waving tunnel for the players to run through on to the pitch.

Fynn from Redruth and Tama from the Pirates,

For two of them, Fynn from Redruth and Tama from the Pirates, it was particularly special as they were selected as the Match Day Mascots and accompanied Tom Duncan and Max Bodilly on to the pitch to make their 50th appearances for the Cornish Pirates

Following a try less first half - players from both clubs took to the pitch for a half time exhibition of mini rugby.

Thanking the Pirates on behalf of both teams, Pirates under 9s official Emma Simons said: “We all had a ‘fab’ time, and for Tama and Fynn the day was extra special!”

If your club or school would like to participate in a match day experience, just drop an e-mail to our Community Engagement Manager Sam Teasdale at community@ cornish-pirates.com and set the wheels in motion.
