Penrice Academy students made their annual visit to the Cornish Pirates at a hot and sunny Mennaye Nurseries training ground this week.
The St. Austell students were visiting as part of their busy Activities Week and took the opportunity to watch the Cornish Pirates train, receive coaching, and engage in a Q&A session.
Participating in a range of activities during the week the students from years 7 to 9 were especially keen to experience what it is like to be a professional rugby player.
We also, because they enjoyed themselves so much last year, brought along with us a number of year 10s as part of their work experience week.” explained teacher Richard Tucker.
“Our sincere thanks are once again expressed to the Cornish Pirates. The students thoroughly enjoyed it, having a fantastic day – it is always the highlight of their week.
“Coaches Gavin (Cattle) and Alan (Paver) were really helpful and approachable, as were all the players, and we wish them all the best for the season ahead.”
